On September 4th Steve and I celebrated our 19th anniversary. We went to Salt Lake City to spend the night. Since it was Sunday, and we are in Utah, there just isn't much to do on that day of the week. Most things are either closed or they close early. So we didn't really feel like we got to do much that first day other than eat out. But we did happen upon a local independently owned theater called "Brewvies". They let you eat and drink in the theater, which was kind of fun for a change. We saw the movie "Our Idiot Brother" and were pleasantly surprised by how funny it was.
The next day we decided to go further north past Salt Lake City into Layton. There is an Indian food restaurant there that we wanted to try. Turns out it was on Antelope Island Drive and we thought we might as well take advantage of being close to Antelope Island and make the trek in that direction after eating.
We were so glad we did! It is a beautiful island with herds of Bison roaming freely. There is a 7-mile causeway leading onto the island. The water is different on one side from the other. But it is all the Great Salt Lake. The wild sunflowers were in bloom all over the island. And it was a mild pre-fall day. It was really beautiful.
A few pictures from our day.
