If you've been reading my blog the last year then you know how much we love our Shelly the tortoise. It's been a sad week because Shelly somehow got out of her backyard enclosure and we can't find her. We have put up flyers and looked around the yard and asked our neighbors. But it's like looking for a needle in a haystack. Maybe she will come home someday. At least she has food, being a grazer. We even saw a story on Animal Planet where the family's tortoise was gone for 3 years and they found it. It had survived snow and all of the elements. We will keep hoping.
On a lighter note, Steve and I celebrated our 16th anniversary on Thursday, Sept. 4th. We had a nice dinner at a new upscale restaurant around the corner from us, Cullens.
The chef made us a beautiful chocolate, raspberry cake (no, it wasn't free).
And even the coffee was fun with the little rock candy swizzle stick.
We have another fun addition to the family. Her name is Piper. She was rescued by someone who got her out of the pipe she had been stuck in for two days. I found her at my vet's clinic and fell in love. She is a tortoiseshell kitten. She has been a little beam of sunshine in our lives this past week.
O.K., she doesn't look like much of a "beam of sunshine" in these pictures, but trust me, she is.
Trivia: Did you know that only females are tortoiseshell?
That's about it for this week's highlights.
