Occasionally someone comes along and makes a huge impression in your life. It's especially meaningful when you are a child.
James Dashner, author of
The 13th Reality visited Beck and Chloe's school this week. He made a huge impression on Chloe. That's all she's been talking about all week. He had a book signing at the Pearland Barnes & Noble.
Chloe and I made the trek out to 288 last night to get the new book and meet the author. Chloe is usually so shy that she won't even speak to adults. But she did come out of her shell long enough to say hello and tell Mr. Dashner her name and what school she was from. He was so kind and took a few minutes with each child.
It's been wonderful for me, an avid reader, to encourage Chloe's love of reading. She told us the other day that she has the highest reading level in her class. How long has she known that and not thought to tell us? We are very proud of her.
She has been carrying around her new, autographed book with her everywhere since we got home. Even while she's watching T.V. I think it will be something she never forgets. Hopefully her inspiration to become an author will carry through to her adulthood. A nerdy mom like me would just love to have an author in the family. :)

No way are you a nerdy mom! It's FAB that he took a bit of time with her at the signing and that's she's over the moon about it too.
