:::sniff::: Who's Barbecuing?
Well, I was, evidently. Did you know that the heating element in your dishwasher gets really hot? For example, let's just say a wooden spoon were to fall to the bottom and land on the element, it might cause a reaction.
There was actually a red glow on the wood when I opened the dishwasher to see where the smell was coming from. And look how much of the spoon is burned away. No traces left. Thank goodness there was no moving air inside to fan the ember.
Am I the only one who puts wooden spoons in the dishwasher? I've done this my whole married life.
Live and learn, Rhonda, live and learn.

No, you're not the only one. I do that too. I've never caught one of them on fire yet though, but way back when one of the kids was little I put baby bottles in there once and one fell through and melted on the coils--I learned my lesson on that one.
I put my wooden spoons in the dishwasher all the time. I have yet to bbq or melt anything in the dishwasher. But I am early in my dishwasher journeys, and I am sure I have many years in front of me to do some bbq-ing of my own. Glad everything was okay.
YIKES!!! I put my wooden spoons in the dishwasher, too. I bet the smell was rank! HA!!
